MLK – Pledge to Non-violence

King’s Pledge of Non-Violence

On the porch will be the pledge to non-violence that Dr. King wrote in 1963.

Any marchers in the Civil Rights marches were required to sign this pledge before they could march. They knew that police, clubs, water cannons, and dogs waited for them, yet they signed the pledge.

We are asking the members of the P.I.T. community to sign the pledge, take it with them, and remember that part of our history. When they sign the pledge, they may also sign a dove, and Student Services will hang the signed doves in the windows of the front porch.

Both the pledges and doves can be found:

Media: on the campus porch (Media), just by the window

Center City: First Floor, Front Desk

Pledge by the porch window

We hope to fill the windows!! This project will go on for the month of January.

Thanks for your help.
